Coronavirus: Nigeria Toll Now Hit 8,733 And 254 Fatalities

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Wednesday recorded an additional 389 new cases of the dreaded coronavirus pushing the toll now to 8,733.

 

The health agency disclosed this on its official twitter handle on May 27th, saying the fatalities recorded has now hit 254.

It explained that most of the fatalities recorded from the coronavirus were cases with other underlying illness described as co-morbidities.

The NCDC in its breakdown of the latest result disclosed Lagos still remain the highest with 256 cases out of the 389 new cases.

Meanwhile, other states with the new cases were as follows; Adamawa-11, Kastina-23, Kano-13, Edo-22, Nasarawa-6, Kwara-6, Akwa Ibom-11 Delta-2, Abia-2, Plateau-2, Kogi-2, Niger-2, Gombe-2, Borno-1, Anambra-1, Ogun-1.

As at last night, 8,733 of the COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Nigeria, 2,501 have been discharged and 254 died of the disease.

Meanwhile globally, since the outbreak of the virus on 31st December 2019 to as at May 27th 2020, about 5,555,737 cases of the coronavirus were confirmed (in accordance with the applied case definition and testing strategies in the affected countries) as have been reported, this includes 350,212 deaths.
