The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Saturday revealed that the country has recorded 49 additional new cases in six states of the federation.
The statement was released through the official twitter handle of the agency, NCDC said that 23 of the new cases were recorded in Lagos, 12 in FCT, 10 in Kano, 2 in Ogun, 1 in Oyo and 1 in Ekiti.
Accordingly, this has brought the toll of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 542.
Out of which 166 have been discharged, while 19 deaths were recorded.
Coronavirus in Nigeria has on Friday claimed the life of Mallam Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Buhari.
Akin Abayomi, the Lagos state commissioner for Health disclosed that Abba Kyari died from complications of the COVID-19 infection on Friday, April 17, 2020, in Lagos state.
The Chief of Staff was tested positive for the coronavirus after he visited Germany in late March.
The late Chief of staff was laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.
The Agency revealed as, at 10:40 pm 18th April, the number of states in Nigeria with confirmed cases of COVID-19 remains 19, with FCT.
