Corona Virus: Emergency Center Set Up In Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Government has set up an Emergency Operational Centre (EOC).

 

Following the announcement of the first case of Novel Coronavirus (COVID -19) in Lagos state last Thursday, this is in preparation for any eventuality.

In a press statement, the Kaduna State Ministry of Health through it Commissioner, Dr Amina Mohammed Baloni said that the emergency centre will run to address emergencies that may eventually come up in case an outbreak is recorded.

Recall on February 27, 2020, the Federal Ministry of Health declared that a case of the dreaded virus was recorded in Nigeria and was discovered in Lagos state.

The information further warned members of the public to observe pre-emptive measures that will safeguard their health as advised by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

According to the Ministry of Health, people are advised to regularly wash their hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand's sanitizers as well as maintain a distance from a person they observed sneezing.

Further, the general public is also advised to follow good respiratory hygiene by covering the mouth and nose with a handkerchief or tissue paper, or cough and sneeze into the sleeve at the bent elbow,’’ the statement said.

Immediately after the use of the handkerchiefs and tissue paper, they should be disposed of, the Ministry advised.

The Ministry of Health further explained that patients who had a history of travel to China, Italy or other countries with confirmed cases of the COVID -19 to be quarantined for two weeks to observe whether they have developed a symptom that will confirm they're being infected by health professionals.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna state people are advised to remain calm while people observe to display symptom similar to influenza should be rushed to medical facilities to ascertain what is exactly wrong with them.

The commissioner assured the Kaduna residence the commitment of the state government in tackling the disease.
