WHO Commences Rehabilitation Of Health Care Facilities In North-East

In a bid to strengthen the healthcare system in the North-east, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has disclosed that it is rehabilitating twenty three healthcare facilities in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

 

WHO's Officer-in-Charge (OiC), Dr. Clement Peter made this known on Thursday in Abuja, saying the rehabilitation is in partnership with European Union (EU), and Global Affairs (GA) Canada.

 

Dr. Peter said became necessary due to the insurgency attacks on some facilities, also when completed, the facilities could benefit up to 150,000 people in the selected states.

 

He added that the rehabilitation entails structural renovations of the sanitary facilities, provision of equipment, drugs and medical supplies.

 

Speaking, WHO Emergency Manager, Dr. Collins Owili explained that some of the facilities are over-stretched due to population displacement, adding that the facilities will aid in providing better care to children health including moderately and severe malnutrition, reproductive health as well as vaccination.
