The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it set to launch a new global campaign on Vaccines Safety. This is following the increase in outbreaks of vaccine-preventable disease.

The Chief of Immunization, UNICEF, Mr. Robin Nandy disclosed that the campaign will kick off on April 24 to go along with the World Immunization Week, which is between 24th to 30th of this month.


The campaign tagged #VaccinesWork will in partnership with the media, communities and parents enlighten the public and further promote the power and safeness of vaccines.


Nandy said the organisation is collaborating with the World Health Organisation (WHO), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Global Alliance for Vaccine and the Vaccine Alliance to achieve.

 
According to him, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would contribute $1 to UNICEF for every like or share on social media using the #VaccinesWork this month.


Mr. Nandy further explained that the use of vaccines have successfully saved 3 million lives from deadly diseases including cholera, measles, pneumonia and diphtheria. He also due to vaccines, polio is on the verge of being eradicated.
He reiterated the importance of vaccines, as it is the most cost-effective health implement invented.
