Researchers Working On Drugs To Stop Aging

Researchers have turned the spotlight on a new class of drugs that they say could "transform" the field of medicine -- and the drugs work by targeting aging. The researchers, from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, are calling for senolytic drugs to make the leap from animal research to human clinical trials. They outlined potential clinical trial scenarios in a paper published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society on Monday.

Residents of Shiyar Ajiya, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara state have been thrown into mourning following the death of seven people. The deceased, including six members of the same family, died after eating a local food known as Fate (leaf porridge). Substandard Phones Cause Of Some Cancer Ailments

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Thursday warned Nigerians against the use of substandard phones, saying this was responsible for some cancer ailments. An official of the commission, Mr Kunle Olorundare, gave the warning at a stakeholders workshop organized by the Ibadan Zonal office of NCC at the popular Fayose GSM Market in Ado Ekiti.

Eating too much salt could double the risk of heart failure

A new European study has found that a high intake of salt can double the risk of heart failure, with researchers now suggesting that salt consumption needs to be reduced to below even current guidelines. Carried out by researchers from the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Helsinki, Finland, the study set out to assess the link between salt intake and its role in the development of heart failure.
