Malaria is another deadly disease which works as a risk for the health of patients. The scientists have now found out an antibody which is targetted to fight malaria. This antibody gets tested in mice and found capable to fight with malaria infections by working with proteins that are found in all strains of the malaria parasite.

The Nigerian Minister of Health Professor Isaac Adewole says in order to accelerate Tuberculosis (TB) case-finding, the country has moved from passive to active case-finding in key affected populations to target those at risk for TB. The Minister disclosed this while briefing journalists on 2018, World Tuberculosis Day, in Abuja. Adewole said the major drawback in Nigeria’s Tuberculosis program is low TB case-finding for both adult and children.

Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulafatah Ahmed has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on drug abuse in the country as a way of curbing some social problems. The Governor made the call on Tuesday during a courtesy call on him at Government House, Ilorin by the National President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharmacist Ahmed Yakassi.

The National Malaria Eradication Programme, NMEP, in Nigeria says number of death as result of Malaria infection has declined from nine hundred and fifty thousand in 2000 to four hundred and forty five thousand in 2016 globally. The National Coordinator, National Malarial Eradication Programme Dr. Audu Bala Mohammed stated this during the first quarter media chat of the organisation in Abuja.

The Chairman of Bill and Melinda Foundation and the second richest man in the world, Bill Gates has disclosed that Nigeria ranks as one of the most dangerous places to give birth. Gates who stated this on Thursday at the Expanded National Economic Council, NEC, presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, in Abuja and attended by Aliko Dangote said Nigeria has the fourth worst maternal mortality rate in the world behind Sierra Leone, Central African Republic and Chad.

Following the recent composition of National Food Security Council by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidency on Monday appealed to the private sector to play an advisory role to ensure the realization of the Council's objectives. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja said everybody would be carried along by the council that would be inaugurated on Monday.
