Coronavirus Update: Nigeria Record 152 Fresh Case And Two Deaths

It stated that two additional deaths were recorded arising from complication shooting the death toll to 1,160 in the country.

Accordingly, Nigeria has now 64,336 total cases of coronavirus in the country moving it to the fifth position amongst the African countries that were hit by the pandemic after Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco and South Africa.

Although tremendous improvement has so far been achieved when considering recoveries from the disease but the fear for the second wave is still being speculated.

NCDC confirmed that 264 persons were discharged from various isolation centres spread across the country after they were successfully treated of the virus.

The health agency revealed that the 152 new cases were reported from eight states and the FCT.

Accordingly, Lagos state being the epicentre has continued to take the lead in the record of infections with a record of 22,053 cases resulting as one-third of the country’s total cases recorded after they reported 93 cases yesterday.

Other states that reported new cases include; the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 21 cases, OYO state had 15 while Rivers state recorded 11 and Bauchi state reported 7, Kwara state had 2, Plateau, and Edo each recorded one case.

Thus, the total statistics revealed that out of the total 64,336 cases recorded in all, 60,333 cases were treated and discharged, while 1,160 persons were reported dead in all the 36 states and the FCT.

NCDC said it had activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), at Level III to coordinate the national response activities in the country, while warning that it cannot afford the second wave of the pandemic urging people to take responsibility.
