The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says in a fresh record that the country's new case for the COVID-19 has sharply decreased from the 221 and 189 recorded on Friday and Saturday respectively to 97 yesterday. Accordingly, the record is one of the lowest recorded cases of the coronavirus in the last six months.
The health agency revealed that the cases were reported in 12 states of the federation, saying with the new record, the total number of the infected persons in Nigeria now stands at 57,242 as at the time of filing this report.
Consequently, NCDC said Lagos state being the epicenter has continued to record the highest figure with 46 persons and Kwara 12 persons, Rivers state has 11 while Adamawa, Niger, Osun, and Ogun states recorded 4, each, Kaduna, Ekiti, and Imo states reported 3 cases each, Plateau state recorded 2 cases and FCT had 1.
It’s on record that since the month of July of this year, the health agency did not report a case that was above 500 as a daily record, this may serve as a pointer that the country might have passed its critical stage of the pandemic.
According to the health agency, about 48,569 of the total number infected have been discharged and free of the virus now across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
Meanwhile, 7,500 persons are still inactive state of the infection and are considered as one of the lowest captured in the last three months signifying the curve for the infection in the country is falling.
Unfortunately, about 1,098 persons could not make it because of the pandemic after three persons died of the virus yesterday.
