1Dokita Healthcare has conducted free medical screening and sensitization outreach for residents of Bariga, Lagos. The healthcare startup leverages technology to provide diagnostic and medical services to Nigerians.
The checkup conducted by a team of doctors mainly centred on HIV test, blood sugar and blood test for diabetes.
During the outreach, the healthcare organisation announced that it has designed a mobile application to cut down on inconveniencing hospital visits.
According to Olawale Princewill Obisanya, 1Dokita marketing director, the mobile application is designed for easy access to medical consultation.
The Android-based application enables the user to communicate with a doctor at any given time.
Olawale went on to say the outreach is only in Lagos but plans are in motion to spread its reach outside the state.
A collaborating organisation, MarieStopes, explained the reason for their partnership is to educate people on family planning.
Speaking at the outreach, Pedro Najim, founding partner of 1Dokita, said: “We just want to raise awareness and this will go some extent towards achieving universal health coverage particularly for the un-insured who lack the finance to do that.”
With a goal to rid the public of quack doctors and self-medication, 1Dokita plans to organise outreaches as often as twice a month.
1Dokita has over 1000 doctors listed on its platform.
