Following announcements of President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump testing positive for the Coronavirus, President Muhammadu Buhari has on Friday wished the American president and his wife a quick recovery. In a statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President said Buhari noted that the incident was an indication of challenges faced in curbing the spread of the pandemic across the world. Buhari also urged Nigerians to adhere to the COVID-19 prevention guidelines, ensuring compliance with the protocols and advice by health professionals.

The statement reads: "President Muhammadu Buhari joins all citizens of the United States of America in prayer for quick and full recovery of President Donald Trump and his wife, Melanie, who reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

"The President notes, with sympathy, that the incident of COVID-19 in the White House manifests the challenge posed by the pandemic across the world, and difficulty in containing the spread.

"While wishing the American First Family speedy turnaround in their current health status, President Buhari urges more compliance among Nigerians to protocols and adherence to advice of medical doctors, particularly epidemiologists.”

Vigil360 reports that President Trump announced his health status via twitter, saying " Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"
