The government of San Francisco has announced that the semi-annual gun buyback event will be held in December this year.
Disclosing this on Wednesday at a news conference, San Francisco Mayor, London Breed also encouraged local residents to turn in their guns in an effort by her administration to checkmate gun violence in the city. She stated that for every San Franciscan that surrenders his firearm will be given cash incentive, $100 for a handgun and $200 for an assault weapon.
“We’ve made great progress reducing gun-related violence in San Francisco, but any loss of life or injury from guns is unacceptable and has to stop,“ she said.
