Tensions on the Korean Peninsula escalated over the weekend as US stealth fighters moved into the region ahead of a military drill with a South Korean counterpart.  According to CNN, North Korea on Saturday issued a statement claiming that Donald Trump was begging for nuclear war in the region. The statement issued by North Korea's Foreign Ministry described Trump as a 'nuclear demon and disruptor of global peace.'

The statement said Trump was staging an extremely dangerous nuclear gamble on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea is ready to defend itself against any form of aggression.

The statement is coming ahead of a joint US-South Korean military drill tagged Vigilant Ace scheduled to take place on Monday. Already, 12,000 US military personnel and 230 planes have been deployed to participate in the drill.

The drill will take place days after North Korea launched one of its most sophisticated missiles believed to have the capacity to hit the United States mainland.

Trump and his military have vowed to take care of the situation.
