North Korea Confirms Missile Launch From Submarine

North Korea has on Tuesday test-fired a new, ballistic missile with "advanced control guidance technologies", launched from a submarine in, the state media confirmed on Wednesday. The technology will make it harder to track the missiles. According to Reuters, the confirmation comes a day after South Korea disclosed that it believed North Korea had fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) off its east coast.


The United States had on Tuesday urged North Korea to refrain from further launches, adding that it remains open to engaging diplomatically with North Korea over its weapons programmes.


However, North Korea has rejected the move, accusing the US and South Korea of stirring p tensions with their military activities.


South Korean Foreign Minister, Chung Eui-yong has called on the US to reduce sanctions if North Korea returns to diplomatic talks.


"Action must be taken as soon as possible to stop North Korea from further developing nuclear and missile capability,"


"I think considering relaxing sanctions can surely be an option," he told parliament.


Vigil360news report that North Korea has in recent weeks carried out a series of weapons testings, launching "hypersonic and long-range weapons".
