Iran's parliament has reportedly voted overwhelmingly to boost budgetary allocation to Tehra's Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Programme and the Elite Revolutionary Guards. The Parliament which made this known on Sunday during a brief session stated that the move was in retaliation for new sanctions imposed by the United States Government. According to Al Jazeera, a total of 240 out of 244 Politicians voted in support of the release of $520m to strengthen nuclear programme as well as paramilitary troops.
The Speaker of Parliament, Ali Larijani who spoke after the session stated that "the Americans should know that this was our first action."
He denied claim that Iran's nuclear Programme violated United Nations resolutions that endorsed Tehran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.
The United States had on July 18 announced new sanctions on 18 Iranian individuals, groups and networks over non-nuclear behavior such as support for ballistic missiles development. The sanction freezes any assets the targets may have in the US and prevents Americans from doing business with them.
