Following the end of a regional crisis between Qatar, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 2017, direct flights to Qatar between its former rivals have on Monday resumed. The first commercial flight was Egypt Air to Cairo from Qatar at the Doha airport followed by the arrival of Air Arabia flight from Sharjah, UAE.

Egypt and the UAE in 2017 joined Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in cutting ties with Qatar over allegations that the nation was too close with Iran, a country considered to an Islamic extremist.

The resumption will make it easier for a lot of Egyptians who resides in Qatar.

Also, Saudi Arabia had on January 11 opened its land border to Qatar, signifying an end to the rift between the two countries.
