North And South Korea Exchange Missiles Fire For First Time

A North Korean missile has landed near South Korean waters for the first time, prompting Seoul to respond with its own air-to-ground missiles after residents on an eastern island were asked to evacuate. The North Korean missile, one of at least 23 fired throughout Wednesday, was detected by South Korea’s military and the Japanese coast guard. It landed less than 60km (37 miles) off the South’s coast. Consequently after few hours later South Korea said its warplanes fired three air-to-ground missiles into the sea towards the north of the two countries’ maritime border. Some air routes along the country’s east coast had also been closed to commercial aircraft, the transport ministry said. According to South Korean military, air raid siren sounded on a remote island controlled by Seoul of the peninsula’s eastern coast.

Again, UAE Slams Visa Ban On Nigerians

Again the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has slammed a visa ban on Nigerians seeking to visit Dubai. The ban was conveyed in a notice issued to the country’s trade partners in Nigeria, including travel agents. Sadly no reason was given for the drastic measure employed by the UAE.

Sri Lankan MPs have elected prime minister and acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the country's new president following the resignation of Gotabaya Rajapakas. The six-time prime minister polled 134 votes in a three-cornered parliamentary vote, with his main opponent Dullas Alahapperuma getting 82 and leftist Anura Dissanayake just 3, giving him an absolute majority on first preferences.

UAE: FG Advises Nigerians On New Visa Policy

The Federal Government (FG) has advised Nigerians traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the country’s new visa policy on the non-issuance of tourist visas to persons under 40 years old except for those applying for family visas. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisca Omayuli in response to the viral video which circulated on social media where at least 20 Nigerians were held at the UAE airport and their passports seized.

Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled his official residence on Saturday shortly before angered protesters stormed his compound and nearby office in the capital of Colombo. Thousands of anti-government protesters from all over the country marched to Colombo demanding his resignation after months of protests over the mismanagement of the country's economic crisis.
