Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has won a sixth term in office on Saturday with 58.6 percent with 5.85 million votes in a disputed election with his rival Bobi Wine who polled 34.8 percent with 3.48 million of the votes. Chairman of the Election Commission, Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama declared Museveni winner, saying "The electoral commission declares Yoweri Museveni… elected president of the Republic of Uganda."

Byabakama has urged people to remain calm, reminding them to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols while celebrating the outcome of the election.

However, Wine who earlier accused Museveni of electoral malpractice, calling the election "the most fraudulent election in the history of Uganda" has dismissed the election.
