Mali Crisis: President Buhari Attends Virtual ECOWAS Extraordinary Session

President Muhammadu Buhari and many other sub-regional leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) hold an extra-ordinary virtual meeting on Monday in a bid to finding solutions to curb the political crisis in Mali. In attendance alongside President Buhari is the secretary-general of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the National Security Adviser Mr, Monguno, the Chief of Staff to the president Mr. Gambari, as well as former President Goodluck Jonathan.

West African Heads-of-State in attendance include George Weah of Liberia, Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, and President Keita of Mali.

The meeting was called in line with the outcome of Thursday’s meeting of the ECOWAS leaders in Bamako, Mali.

The Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, President Mahamadou Issoufou had on Thursday said the sub-regional organization would do all it could to address the crisis in Mali.

Thursday’s meeting was attended by President Buhari, Host President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Presidents Macky Sall of Senegal, Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire and Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana.
