The immediate past Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and former Commissioner of Nigeria Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Captain Usman Mukhtar has died on Wednesday, following complications from diabetes. "I regret to announce the demise of Captain Mukhtar Usman (Former DG NCAA). He died around 2 am this morning in Kaduna, due to diabetic complications. May his soul rest in perfect peace Ameen," a family source said. Capt. Mukhtar, who CEO AIB between 2011 and 2014 was born on December 5, 1959, in Zaria, Kaduna State,
where he attended Government Secondary Technical School, Soba, proceeding to the Government Technical College where he graduated in 1975 after obtaining the Federal Craft Training Certificate.
The former NCAA boss gained admission to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, (NCAT), Zaria, where he obtained a Diploma certificate in Aero Electronics and Telecommunication.
During the course of his career, Capt. Mukhtar worked at Nigeria Airways in Lagos between 1985 and 2004. He also flew as Captain's Assistant as well as assisted in fleet technical and operational administration.
