The Federal Government in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) has directed the shut down of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The shut down is with effect from March 23 till April 23, 2020.
This was made known in a statement by the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu saying it was necessary due to the increased cases from 12 to 22.
Nigeria who has 22 confirmed cases of the disease initially declared the shutdown of three airports including Enugu, Kano and Port Harcourt which took effect on Saturday.
Capt. Nuhu however said domestic flights will continue operating in all the country's airports.
