At least 54 Miss Africa University 2017 pageant contestants are currently in Port Harcourt, the River state capital ahead of the event billed to take place on December 2, 2017. The Governor of the state, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday was pictured taking the contestants around the Government House before handing them over to other government officials for a tour of the state capital.
The Governor, who had earlier handed souvenirs to each of the contestants, thanked them for choosing the state for the pageant despite unfounded negative media coverage of the state by some elements not favorably disposed to his administration.
The contestants thanked the Governor for the warm reception and expressed satisfaction with the host state.
