Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has added to her record-breaking year as she bags the Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) Impact Award in London. The singer was recognised for her ground-breaking artistry, creative vision, and impact on the future of music.

The BMI Film & TV Awards are honours given yearly by Broadcast Music, Inc. to songwriters, composers, and music publishers in a variety of genres. The 2022 ceremony took place on Monday, October 3, at the Savoy Hotel in London.

Ellie Goulding was honoured with the BMI President’s Award, while Tems was honoured with the global BMI Impact Award in 2022.

Upon being presented with the award, Tems said, “I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for this award… I’ve come a long way and I’m so grateful.”

Ed Sheeran and Johnny McDaid were also honoured with the prestigious European Song of the Year Award for their massive hit song “Bad Habits”.
