Legendary American Country singer, Kenny Rogers has on Friday died at age 81, passing away due to natural causes. Rogers who topped the country and pop music scene in the 1970s and 1980s was known for his indistinctive husky voice and ballads.
The country music icon had a successful career that spanned over six decades, winning three Grammy awards and inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013 as well as received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Country Music Association.
His publicist, Keith Hagan in a statement said, " Kenny Rogers left an indelible mark on the history of American music. His songs have endeared music lovers and touched the lives of millions around the world."
His hit songs include 'Lady', 'Lucille', 'We've Got Tonight', 'Islands In The Stream', and 'Through the Years'. Also, he starred in some TV Shows including a 1982 movie 'Six Pack'.
In 2015, the singer announced his retirement, saying " I've been so lucky to have enjoyed such a long career and to have such amazing support from my fans and all who have helped me along the way, but there comes a time when I need to focus on spending time with my family."
" My life is about my wife and my 11-year-old twin boys right now. There are a lot of things I want to do together with them to create some special memories. I don't have a bucket list of my own ... I have a bucket list of things I want to do with them," Rogers added.
