Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna, a rising basketball star, were laid to rest in a private funeral in Newport Beach, California, with only close friends and family in attendance. The ceremony was held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, last Friday, two weeks after the fatal January 26 helicopter crash in the hills of Calabasas, which took the lives of all 9 people on board. The funeral had no photographers present.
According to Bryant's wife Venessa, on her Instagram page where she has been giving details related to the tragedy, a memorial service for all the honoured dead will be held on Feb. 24 at Staples Center, where Bryant played his entire professional career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Vanessa and the family wanted a private service to mourn their loss, The ceremony was extremely hard for everyone as it’s still hard for them to grasp they lost two beautiful souls,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
The world is still in shock over the deaths even as officials continue investigating the cause of the crash.
