Wizkid Wins Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award

Nigerian music sensation, Wizkid has on Sunday won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the 2019 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Soul Train Awards for the single “Brown Skin Girl” alongside Beyonce and Blue Ivy collaboration in “The Lion King: The Gift” Album.

 

The BET Soul Train Awards is an annual event, which honours the best in soul, hip-hop, and R&B, and this year’s edition took place at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

Also, Chris Brown and Drake were elated as they won Song of the Year, Best Collaboration Performance and Best Dance Performance for their single “No Guidance”.

Other winners at the event include Summer Walker (Best New Artist), Cardi B (Rhythm & Bars Award), H.E.R (Best R&B/Soul Female Artist), Khalid (Best R&B/Soul Male Artist), Lizzo (Album/Mixtape of the Year) and (Video of the Year), Trevor Jackson (Soul Train Certified Award), Kirk Franklin (Best Gospel/Inspirational Award).
