In efforts to significantly strengthen cultural relations between China and Nigeria, the two countries would be collaborating through the film industry. Mr. Lee Xuda, the Cultural Counsellor of the China Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of the 2019 China Film Festival in Abuja.

While expressing his satisfaction with Nigerian Films, he said China is looking forward to collaborating with Nollywood, adding that China's film industry has developed rapidly and aims to expand further by 2020, with revenue of about $30 billion.

According to Xuda, the Chinese film industry in the near future will become the largest market in the world, surpassing North America in box office revenue. He noted that a partnership with Nollywood will make incredible contributions to the growth and development of both country's film industry and economy.

"I believe Nollywood is very important for China in strengthening the cooperation in the film industry and the 2019 China Film Festival annual event will surely make its amazing contribution to the goal," he said.
