FG to Spend N82.109M for 2019 Abuja Carnival

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Lai Mohammed has said that the 2019 edition of the Abuja Carnival will gulp N82.109 million. According to a statement made by the minister while presenting the 2019 budget proposal of his Ministry before the Senate Committee.

 

The Abuja Carnival is an annual organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism to showcase the different cultural heritage in the country. The event usually attracts tourist to the country.

While defending the proposal, Mohammed explained that though the carnival did not hold last year, the funds appropriated were not fully cash backed. Also, the fund was merged with other items which were not adequately funded.

He further noted that the Nigerian cultural centers in Brazil and China, which were allocated N35 million in 2019 budget are aimed at promoting tourism and the economy as well as the image of the country.
