Netflix Increases Subscription Prices In U.S., Canada

American streaming service and production company, Netflix has on Friday announced that it has increased the monthly subscription price by $1 to $2 in the United States and Canada, depending on the plan. The Company said the increase in to enable pay for new programming to compete in the streaming TV market. "We're updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options," a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement.


The company also noted that users will receive an email about the price increase 30 days before implementation.


The Netflix basic plan in the U.S that allows subscribers one stream on one screen at a time without HD streaming is now going for $9.99 a month from $8.99, the standard plan that allows users to stream on two screens at a time now goes for $15.49 a month from #13.99, while the premium plan that allows users stream HD on 4 screens at a time now costs 19.99 a month.


In Canada, the basic plan remains the same price, while the standard plan is now $16.46 CAD and the premium plan now costs $20.99 CAD.


Vigil360news reports that Netflix increased its prices in the U.S IN 2019 and 2020 by $1 to $2.
