Burna Boy, Prince Harry and Meghan, Others For Global Citizen Live Event

Nigerian musicians Burna Boy, Davido, Femi Kuti, Tiwa Savage and Made Kuti are set to perform at the Global Citizen Live Event scheduled for Saturday 25th, September 2021. Global Citizen is an international advocacy organization concerned with involving governments, organizations, and philanthropists to aid in tackling socioeconomic issues.


The focus of this year’s Global Citizen Live Event would be on alleviating poverty, vaccine equity, protecting the planet, and climate change. The organization would broadcast a 24-hour live program filmed across six continents featuring musicians, dignitaries, and others.


Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed would join the Global Citizen Live Event in Lagos with performances from Tiwa Savage, Davido, Femi Kuti, and Made Kuti. TV personalities, Ebuka Obi Uchendu and Nancy Isime would be hosts of the Lagos Global Live Citizen Event.


The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan would feature on the New York leg of the event, with Nigeria’s Burna Boy set to perform alongside other international artistes’ like Jennifer Lopez, Camilla Cabello, Shawn Mendes, amongst others.


For the Paris leg of the event, Beninese icon, Angelique Kidjoe is set to perform. Ed Sheeran, Black Eyed Peas, Doja Cat, and others are also scheduled to perform at the Paris Global Live Citizen Event.


Other dignitaries to be featured on the global broadcast include United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed; Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus; Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr John Nkengasong, and more.


According to reports, the broadcast would be live on Wazobia Max TV, Wazobia TV (Dstv channel 259), Cool FM, and Nigeria Info FM from 6 pm West Africa Time on 25th September 2021.


The global event is sponsored by companies like Access Bank in Nigeria, and global brands like The Coca Cola Company, Google, P&G, Verizon, Citi, YouTube and others.
