Presidency Honours Alibaba with Award

The Presidency has honoured iconic comedian, Atunyota A. Akpoborome popularly known as Alibaba with an award of excellence for social Impact and Entertainment.

 

The comic was awarded during the recent second edition of the National MSME Award hosted by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, at the Banquet Hall of Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

 

Alibaba was recognized for his 3-decade long career and his innovative support to the entertainment industry, which impacts on the government's micro, medium and small enterprise (MSME) initiative.

 

In his career, Alibaba has supported upcoming comedians, helped some diversify their talent in the entertainment industry, with a number of his protégés owning successful entertainment businesses.

 

He was the first Nigerian comedian to perform on commercial flights, the first to entertain over forty heads of governments, first comedian on CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera media houses among other achievements.

 

In a bid to discover new comedic talents, the icon created a competition to bring out the best in the industry.
