2019 BET Awards: Burna Boy Wins Best International Act

Nigerian Singer-Songwriter, Damini Ogulu a.k.a Burnaboy has added another to his as he was announced the winner of the Best International Act Category, at the 2019 BET Awards in Los Angeles.

 

The Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards was established in 2001 to celebrate African Americans and American minorities in music, sports, acting, and other aspects of entertainment.

 

The Afrofusion singer was nominated alongside, Nigeria's Teni, Mr Eazi, France's Aya Nakamura, Dosseh, and UK's Dave, and Giggs.

 

Burnaboy's mother, Bose Ogulu received the award and conveyed an acceptance speech on his behalf. She said, "Every black person should remember, you were Africans before you became anything else".

 

However, the event kicked off with Cardi B, who performed her hit singles Press and Clout with Husband Offset. Other artists that performed include, Mary J Blige, Lil Kim, Migos, DJ Mustard, Lil NasX, Billy Ray Cyrus, Meek Mill, and Jeremih.

 

Also, YG, DJ Khaled, Marsha Ambrosius, and John Legend performed in a tribute to late rapper and Activist, Nippsey Hussle. While his family received the Humanitarian Award on behalf of the Hussle.
