NNPC Redeploys Management Staff In Major Shake Up

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced the promotion and redeployment of some senior management staff to fill vacant positions in the corporation as well as the disengagement of the Chief Operations Officer. Dr. Kennie Obateru, the NNPC spokesperson said in a statement on Monday in Abuja, explaining that the redeployment was in effort to strengthen and enhancing the profitability of the corporation.


According to the statement, Garba Muhammad will be replacing Obateru as the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, while Obateru retires in September.


“The new appointments include that of Mr Garba-Deen Muhammad, who will take over from Dr. Kennie Obateru, as the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the corporation.”


Aisha Ahmadu-Katagum has been promoted to the position of Group Executive Director, Corporate Services while, Billy Okoye was appointed as the new Group Executive Director, Ventures & Business Development.


Prior to their new appointments, Okoye and Ahmadu-Katagum were Group General Managers, Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD), and Supply Chain Management Division in the Corporation, respectively.


The corporation explained that the disengagement of the Chief Operations Officer positions to the new Group Executive Directors is in line with the rules of the Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).


Also, Mr Adeyemi Adetunji, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Business & Ventures Development, is now the Group Executive Director, Downstream, while, Mr. Mohammed Abdulkabir Ahmed, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Services, becomes the Group Executive Director, Gas, and Power.
