The Federal Executive Council presided over by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday approved the upward review of the contract sum for completion of Jare earth dam in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State from N3.7 billion to N9 billion.


The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, who disclosed the decision to State House reporters on Wednesday shortly after the meeting held at the Presidential Villa, said that the project had been abandoned for 12 years, stressing that the previous contract sum was no longer workable.


He hinted that with this approval, the project is expected to be completed within 36 months.


Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Musa Bello announced a new infrastructure contract of N112.43 million for new Kasana District which was designed for mass housing projects. He disclosed that the ministry intended to partner with professionals in the building sector with a view to monitoring compliance with mass housing regulations.


Bello also said the test-run of trains within Abuja city would commence in the next couple of weeks, stressing that efforts are being put in place to link up all major areas in the Federal Capital Territory.
