The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote revealed that the refinery would begin processing crude by the third quarter of 2022.
He made this known during a news briefing at the plant site in the Lekki FTZ, Lagos, adding that mechanical work at the refinery was already completed.
He also said, “The plant will start with a processing capacity of 540,000 barrels a day. Full production can start maybe, by the end of the year or beginning of 2023.”
According to reports, the refinery has an installed capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and is projected to be Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility.
The $19 billion facility is expected to meet Nigeria’s fuel demands, turn the country into an exporter of refined crude and also save about 40 percent of the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
