774,000 FG Jobs Set To Commence Tomorrow – Minister

Months after many debates on the Federal Government Special Public Works Programme which would engage 774,000 unemployed Nigerian Youth, the state Minister of Labour, Festus Keyamo has disclosed that the job is set to kick-start tomorrow, Tuesday, 5th Jan 2021.

The Minister made this revelation yesterday through his official Twitter handle saying President Buhari has finally approved the commencement of the work to start.

The Twitter message reads as; “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the take-off of the Special Public Works Programme (engaging 774,000 unemployed itinerant Nigerians) to begin nationwide on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. All NDE state structures are already in top gear for the take-off ceremonies.”

Accordingly, the programme is designed to engage 1000 youth from each of the Nigeria 774 local Government Areas across the federation, formerly was set to take off on 1st October of last year but experienced set back due to some administrative protocols especially a power play that involved the Minister and the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Nasir Ladan that lead to his sack by Mr President last month.

The selected workers would be entitled to N20,000 naira at the end of a month for a consecutive three months at a stretch.

Meanwhile, the Minster is expected to lunch the scheme from his respective state in collaboration with the state governor.
