The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will be hosting a conference to be attended by Directors-General of Customs from all the African Union (AU) member countries. This is in furtherance of efforts to enhance trade, security and common position in the continent. The meeting will be taking place from 23rd to 25th May 2017.
Mr Joseph Attah, Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Customs Service, says the service will host African Union Directors-General of Customs to enhance robust trade facilitation, security and common African position in global customs community.
Speaking to news men on Thursday in Abuja, the Public Relations Officer, NSC, Mr Joseph Attah disclosed that the hosting demonstrates the confidence the international community has on the present leadership of the country. Attah stated that “Nigeria is increasingly being seen as a safer place for businesses, international conferences and safer place for meaningful national engagement. He further disclosed that 50 DGs of various customs administrations in the AU are expected to be in attendance.
Inquiries conducted by vigil 360 revealed that during the conference, the Custom DGs will be discussing issues of mutual cooperation among customs administrations in the AU to forge a common position in the governance of World Customs Organisation (WCO). Other issues include; Trade facilitation and regional security as well as fashion out ways of improving the standard of customs operations in the region.
