FG Appoints New CAC Registrar-General

The Head of Public Affairs, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Mr. Moses Adaguusu has on Thursday said the Federal Government appointed Alhaji Garba Abubakar as the new Registrar-General of  CAC.

The appointment was announced in a statement conveyed through the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment in Abuja.

 

Alhaji Abubakar, a graduate of Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria was born in 1966. He joined CAC in April, 2004 as a principal manager compliance. He became a Director in 2016 and later became the Special Adviser to the former Regristrar-General between August and October, 2017.

 

Prior toworking at CAC, he worked with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (formerly known as National Provident Fund), as compliance officer between 1991 to 1993. He also worked at NICON Insurance between June 1995 and Dec. 1997. 

 

Abubakar plays his fair role in the development of the country as he is a member of the governing council of the Nigerian Bar Association on Business Law, Inter-Agency Committee Against Money Laundering and Terrorists Financing, 2007 till date and CAC focal officer on Open Government Partnership.

 

He is also a member in house committee on the review of the Companies and Allied Matters Matters Act (CAMA), among others.

 

Abubakar succeeds from Hajiya Saratu Shafii who served as Acting Registrar-General after Ms Azuka Azinge was suspended for failure to declare assets.
