The Republic of Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) had today Wednesday applauded Nigerian Government despite border closure has granted them access into Nigerian soil to participate in the Lagos International Trade Fair.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Mr. Samuel Dentu, the Ghanian Deputy chief executive officer of GEPA made the commendation at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair.
The Ghanian Official confessed that the Nigerian border closure nearly cost them fortune, describing the hurdles they had to go through in bringing their exhibition products to the fair that it was through the timely intervention of the government they were saved.
According to him, consequent to the order of the Nigerian government on border closure, they experience difficulty before their goods were crossed over for the exhibition, however a timely intervention from the Nigerian government through Customs and the Ghanian Embassy in Nigeria they were able to meet up.
He commended the Nigerian government for helping them through allowing them to negotiate at the border where their goods were released, describing Nigerian government as magnanimous with them so far.
Dentu said that Ghanaians preferred to exhibit their products in Nigeria because of the similarity in language and products and, above all, the brotherly relationship they share.
Saying though they acknowledge a border barrier, but that will not deter the smooth relationship that the two countries enjoyed for decades.
