Take All Mutilated Naira Note To Bank Latest Monday – CBN To Nigerians

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed that all Nigerians in possession of mutilated naira notes to surrender them to the nearest bank latest by Monday 02nd Sept, 2019. The CBN disclosed this was part of its effort to improve the quality of naira notes in circulation.

 

The information was received by the customers of GTBank through an email send by the bank informing them of the development on Friday.

The massage titled “Important CBN Notice on Naira Notes,” the email states: As part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the Naira notes in circulation, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced the Clean Note Policy and Banknotes Fitness Guidelines.

Consequently, it implied that all individuals in possession of mutilated naira note are required to take the said notes to their individual banks for onwards surrendering to the CBN, and this should be done on or before Monday, 2nd September 2019.

Meanwhile, the overused/mutilated notes include all Naira notes that are considered weak such that it could no longer withstand further handling or processing the apex bank added.
