FG Acquires $8.5 Million Calibration Aircraft

On Friday, 29th August 2019 Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)received the delivery of a calibration Aircraft valued at $8.5 millionAircraft will be used across the country.

The calibration Aircraft is used to inspect equipment or any other communication or navigational instrument to ensure that they work accurately and precisely. The Aircraft is expected to augment the effort of the Aviation ministry in making Nigeria's airspace safer.

According to Hadi Sirika, Minister ofAviation, who broke the news of the receipt of the Aircraft on Thursday, 29th August 2019stated that it would make Nigeria’s airspace safer.

He also disclosed that Nigeria last had such aircraft 20 years ago. He added that due to the importance of the aircraft, Nigeria was into the contract and paying $500,000 to South Africa or the Niger Republic every six months to get such services from similar Aircraft.

In a tweet by his verified handle, Sirika said “Just received new calibration Aircraft for the country. (The) make is King-Air-350i. Cost is $8.5m. The agony of contracting it to South Africa at about $500,000 every six months is over. Our airspace is safer. Thanks, Mr President, we started and finished during your regime" Sirika stated.
