Blacklist Firms Importing Palm Oil, Buhari Orders CBN

As part of efforts to ensure the growth of small and medium scale enterprises in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to blacklist any firm, its owner and top management caught smuggling or dumping any of the restricted 43 items into the country. The directive was disclosed by the apex bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele on Friday in Abuja during a meeting with oil palm producers.

 

Speaking further, Emefiele said the presidential directive mandated the apex bank to expand and provide support to firms and individuals that are willing to develop the blacklisted products.

Recall that products such as Rice, Cement, Margarine, Palm kernel/Palm oil products/vegetable oils, Meat and processed meat products, Vegetables and processed vegetable products, Poultry chicken, eggs, turkey and others had been banned earlier.
