FNBC President: Macron Reappoints Abdulsamad Rabiu

President Emmanuel Macron of France has reappointed the Founder and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu as the President of the France-Nigeria Business Council (FNBC) during the council’s July 2022 Meeting held in Paris, France. Speaking during the event, Abdulsamad stated that it was his personal honor to be a member of FNBC, serve as the Council’s pioneer president, and now be reappointed as president.


FNBC was inaugurated about a year ago to foster collaboration between top businesses in Nigeria and France with the aim of improving business relations which would be economically beneficial to both nations.

French members of the council include Global Chief Executives of multinational companies such as Total Energies, Dassault, Axens, Accor, amongst others while Nigerian members include Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA Group, Aliko Dangote of Dangote Group, Dr. Mike Adenuga of Globacom & Conoil, Jim Ovia of Zenith Bank, Tony Elumelu of UBA, Heirs Holdings and Tony Elumelu Foundation, amongst others.

Abdulsamad said since its inauguration, the Council had made progress such as plans by some of Nigeria’s biggest banks to set up subsidiaries in France and a partnership between the BUA group and Axens of France to construct a 200,000 barrel per day (BPD) refinery in Akwa Ibom State.

He encouraged council members to continue seeking collaboration opportunities while increasing mutually economic benefits to Nigeria and France.
