President Buhari departed Abuja to France on Sunday for a four-day official visit to attend the African Finance Summit. The event will be hosted by the French President, Emmanuel Macron with other Heads of Government and major stakeholders scheduled to attend.
The summit will focus on reviewing COVID-19's impact on the African economy. Also, external funding and debt relief for African countries would be discussed.
President Buhari is expected to meet with the French president to discuss several issues such as the security threats in Sahel and Lake Chad region, economic ties, political relations, etc.
The President would also meet with some key players in the oil and gas sector, European Council and European Union Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and Commission, and some members of the Nigerian community in France.
The President is being accompanied by top government officials including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd); Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed; Minister of Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
