The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) representing the Governors of the 36 states across the Federation has disclosed that the agreement on the payment for the N30,000 minimum wage was a sealed deal.
The Governors Forum Chairman who is also the Governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi made this declaration while speaking to newsmen after the forum’s meeting in Abuja on Thursday at the forum secretariat.
In the statement, Fayemi disclosed the Governors have all indicated interest without any exception, saying all of them have agreed to subscribe to the Act of the Parliament that has been passed on the N30,000 minimum wage. There is no debate, we have accepted that.
According to Feyemi, the negotiating team is already talking about the consequential impact and each state has started the process.
He disclosed, if the NLC is not fully aware of the status of the negotiation across various states, he said they will be gladly happy to share the information available to both parties.
Meanwhile, he noted that all fingers are not equal, and states have to negotiate in terms of the consequential implementation, saying there may be states that are willing to pay more.
He concluded by saying, “what we can tell you is that no state we pay less than, N30,000 when we finally get to that point.”
