Ministry Of Communications Gets New Name

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday, 23rd October 2019 approved a change of name for the ministry of Communications.

 

In a meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the ministry will now be known as Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

The disclosure was made public by the personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Ahmad Bashir who took to his twitter account @BashirAhmaad to write “The Federal Executive Council has approved the change of name for Ministry of Communications, now to be called Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.”

On his part, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, disclosed that the former name was limiting it in pursuing the objectives of a digital economy.

He stressed that the name was obsolete as it did not reflect the trends as emphasized by the International Telecommunications Union.
