Chi, Three Crowns Milk And Two Others Begins Local Production Of Milk - FG

According to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Chi Limited, the producers of Peak and Three Crowns, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Neon Agro and Irish Dairy have all begun local production of milk across states in the country.

The governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, while addressing press, listed the aforementioned names of company and said they have expressed interest to invest in Bobi Grazing Reserve in Niger state; which is part of the 26 grazing reserves gazette under a livestock development initiative established by the government of Niger state in collaboration with the apex bank.

The governor further stated that with the reserve area of about 31,000 hectares, FrieslandCampina WAMCO and Neon Agro have agreed to acquire 10,000 hectares of land each, while Chi Limited and Irish Dairy are expected to develop 4,000 hectares each for their milk production project.

The Apex bank boss said 3,000 hectares will be retained by the Niger state government for its product development projects. Aside from Niger state, Kaduna State, Plateau and Abuja are among states where milk and diary products will be produced locally. As stated earlier, Arla Group has existing projects in Damau, Amana, NAPRI Shika and Kagarko. and about N12 billion has also been reportedly invested in the development of 6,000 hectares of land in Damau Grazing Reserve. Integrated Dairies Limited has expressed interest in Jos especially with the company activities on the development of Wase Grazing Reserve.

The parent company of Nigeria coffee giant company Nestle Plc has indicated interest in developing its dairy project in Abaji, in the Federal Capital Territory.

The CBN said it has contacted the relevant government departments to fast-track land acquisition and issuance of title documents. “For these investments to bear fruits, the support of the state governments is needed through the land, and other infrastructural amenities,” the CBN governor said.
