N20bn Spent From The Ministry’s Intervention Fund – Outgoing Minister

Alhaji Abubakar Bwari, the immediate past Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, disclosed that about N20 billion was spent from the N30 billion mining Intervention Fund given to the ministry by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in November 2016.

 

Bwari disclosed this to the newsmen during a get-together party organized by the ministry for him on Tuesday in Abuja. Bwari stated that N14 billion out of the N30 billion was used for mineral exploration and N2.5 billion was earmarked as loan to support the artisanal miners.

 

Similarly, the 110-megawatt power plant in Ajaokuta steel, light section, rolling mills as well as the metallurgical centre in Jos, Plateau were being renovated through the fund.

 

Meanwhile, the outgoing minister disclosed that About N10 billion remaining from the N30 billion is being used for the payment of on-going activities and renovation carried out by the ministry.
