The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated revenue of ₦311.2 billion for the first quarter of 2019.
This was disclosed in a report released by the office of the Public Relations Officer of the service, Joseph Attah, and showed that the revenue was generated between January and March 2019.
The federal government had set a revenue target of ₦887 billion for NCS in 2019.
However, Hameed Ali, the Comptroller-General of Customs, had promised that they would surpass the figure as the management had beforehand set a higher target for the organization.
The document revealed that NCS acquired revenue of about ₦116.5 billion in January, ₦84.9 billion in February, and ₦109.8 billion in March.
It further showed that the revenue was gotten from 29 commands across the country, with Apapa Customs Command generating the highest revenue.
The revenue was generated from import duty, exercise duty, levy, and other fees.
The Nigeria Customs Service generated about ₦1.2 trillion revenue in 2018.
