President Muhammadu Buhari today launched a new micro pension plan for the self-employed Nigerians. The launch was hosted at the conference centre of the State House presidential villa, Abuja. Buhari launched the program by supervising the registration of one Keke NAPEP operator, Sagir Shawai, a dweller of Karu village of the FCT Abuja.

Mr, President said the program was conceived for Nigerians whom are in the informal sector.


He charged the trade associations, workers unions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the informal sector to partner with the government in enlightening their members on the significance of the scheme.


“This programme will capture those that are not fully captured in the active pension scheme.


He revealed in the past three years, we have provided loans to farmers and others in the informal sector. The micro pension plan is the next step,”
